I love music. I am an "introverted gypsy made of music," as coined by my husband and son. Today I want to share with you my current top five musical selections with you. Please take note that my musical favorites are as flippant as the wind, and it is just this moment's favorites. If I were to write this blog tomorrow or a week from now or even just an hour from now my favorites could be completely different. That is just how I roll.
Favorite Pops Song:
Let Go by Imogen Heap/Frou Frou
Favorite Radio "Song": (most songs on the radio aren't really music, but I usually have at least one guilty pleasure)
Radioactive by Imagine Dragons (although the Pentatonix and Lindsey Stirling version is my favorite!)
Favorite Piece to Play:
Jay Ungar's Ashoken Farewell has a special spot in my heart. It was the first piece I played in a recital and it was the song my father and I danced to at my wedding. This song will always be one of my favorites to play because it is in my heart. I think of my Daddy and the special bond we have with this song.
Favorite Classical Piece to Listen to:
Sousa's Stars and Stripes! Come on, who doesn't want to clap along with the band (or orchestra) that plays this! I will admit the viola part is boring. We play the off beats the whole time. mm PAH mm PAH.... over and over... BUT, the trombones at the end make my hair stand on end that I can do it with a smile on my face.
Favorite Piece to Sing:
Victoria's O Magnum has always pulled at my heartstrings. Beautiful polyphony and interactions between the parts. I want to marry this song. Somehow.
