This past Sunday my family celebrated Sebastian's First Holy Communion. I cannot believe he is old enough already!
It was a beautiful day full of family, friends, laughter, and love.
Today I had Sebastian write up some memories of his First Communion so that we could remember the day in the future.
His priest was Fr. Wilke. I wanted to get a picture of him with Father, but Father ran away almost immediately after mass. We will have to grab him some other Sunday.
He was a little nervous about receiving, but he was very excited. It was an awesome experience, even if the Eucharist "tasted like cardboard." He wants to be able to go to mass and receive often now! Maybe we can start doing a daily mass once a week.
He designed the cake himself. He wanted a lemon cake and lemon icing and he built a cake topper out of Legos. It depicts the altar and the consecration with himself in the pews watching.
I made fascinator hats for myself and Kaelyn to wear. I will have to take a picture of us in the hats, because we were the cutest twinsies ever! After mass we came back to our house and had a party with some friends and family that were able to make it. I was afraid it was going to be very hot, but it was ok. (Today, on the other hand, is miserable in the house!)
I am so proud of Sebastian and the young man he is becoming. Not only did he make his First Communion, but he is UNDERSTANDING the faith. He is grasping it and is excited to learn more. My biggest prayer for him is that this eagerness and excitement for Jesus remains with him ALL the days of his life. May he remain on fire and never let that light inside him dimmer.
