Doing Something Brave

This week I did something brave, something I would never have done a few months ago.  I have been taking karate for a few months now and we have been working on out katas, which are choreographed training exercises we need to memorize for the belt tests. As we were working on them, I was getting minimal corrections! It is always a win for me when the senseis give me a thumbs up or tell me I am doing well.  At the end of class, the sensei asked if anyone wanted to do it for the class. She then looked directly at me and told me to do it since I was doing such a good job. What?!? So I did it! In front of the class! By myself!  It was the scariest thing I have done in a while but I was proud of myself. I am not someone who wants to be in the spotlight, and to be honest I like to be a background player, but this was a huge step outside of my comfort zone.

So, go do something scary every once and a while. It will make you grow in ways you didn't think possible!
