Finding Balance

Finding balance in life is ridiculously difficult. There is balance between work life, home life, social life, spiritual life, marriage life, parent life, health life... it goes on and on. What am I doing to try and find balance and is it actually working for me?

One of the things I have done is moved homeschool to the afternoons. This gives us a chance to get chores done in the morning and it gives the kids time to have a little fun before getting into the school day. Usually we get up, have breakfast, and then do work/play games. When I put Oliver down for his nap the kids start their school work while I get a workout in. (Sometimes I get a workout in before the kids wake up, but that is a rare treat). Once the workout is over I shower and then finish school with the kids. We do errands in the afternoon after Oliver wakes up. That is the balance that is working for us during the day, at least for right now.

Weekend balance is a little harder. I like to take that time to get ahead of laundry because we are always behind in laundry, but at the same time, I like to keep the weekends work-free as much as possible so that we all have a chance to decompress from the week. This is a balance I am still working on.

In the evenings after the kids go to sleep I like to spend time with my husband. Typically we watch a show on the TV but I am having a hard time staying awake these days. Since starting to work out every day, I have been going to sleep earlier. I am still trying to figure out how to make quality time with my husband that isn't just at night because I am a pumpkin after 8pm!
