I have been a lot more motivated this week. I am still not used to my work schedule, and I will be getting some more students in November, so it will be another adjustment to make. I love my job and I wouldn't change it, but I wish I had a few more hours in my day.In our homeschool this week…
For the most part we had a great week. We did tons of pumpkin crafts and Sebastian's math work is coming along splendidly. I am having some difficulties with his reading. He is only four so I am not pushing, but we have hit a road block. He knows his letter sounds and he can sound out three letter words. Slowly. He is having a hard time reading a short sentence because he forgets the word as soon as he sounds it out. I'll have to see what I can do to help him through this. Today he was getting mad and hitting his head because he got the word wrong. I need a new approach because I want him to love what we are doing and not get frustrated over it. Next week will be different, not sure if it will be better, but we are going to try some new games.
Yesterday we spent the day at ZooAmerica and we did so much! We read about the animals, he used a map to help us get around, we did math at the shop, and he never stopped asking questions the whole time we were there. It was so much fun and very educational. We will be going back soon, because he had such a fun time.
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
Tomorrow we are supposed to visit my Aunt, Uncle, and cousin. Unfortunately we may get 6-10 inches of snow!! It is supposed to start around 2am tomorrow morning, so we should have plenty of time to learn whether or notMy favorite thing this week was…
Making pumpkin lanterns! We took glass jars and covered them in tissue paper and homemade modge podge. They look great and it was so fun and easy! What’s working/not working for us…
Right now our phonics program is frustrating him. Well, I don't think it is the program. He is having to work at something, and as soon as something gets a little hard he wants to turn off. I won't let him. I'm going to try to add some fun games, but this is my first roadblock with him. Our math is working well, especially with some small adjustments I have made to the lessons. (I am using dinosaur stickers to help him count. He loves them.)
I’m cooking…
Tonight: vegetarian stuffed green peppers with butternut squash. If we are home tomorrow: carrot soup and homemade garlic bread.I’m grateful for…

My kids have the same issue -- if something is hard for them, they disconnect. It can be really frustrating. Is it possible your little one is not quite ready for the phonics yet? Just a thought. :)
I think all kids have the same problem. Love the funny at the bottom =-)

My son loves doing phonics work- I have been letting him move forward on his own. He wants to read, but he had a bad day on Friday. I am going to stop letting him read for a few days, and instead we'll play some games. He wants to be able to read right now, and wants to skip learning how to read.
