Using Pinterest as inspiration, I have repurposed my fireplace to be a fall centerpiece in my living room.  I love how it turned out.  I draped some fabric in the fireplace first since it was dirty and I didn't feel like scrubbing it.  I then grabbed a bunch of gourds and cinnamon pinecones and threw them in the opening.  Voila.  Instant fall decor.  I spent less than $25 on everything.

Kaelyn was interested in it, but she has been pretty good about listening to the word "no".
