The End of 2011/2012

In my life this week…

It has been a while. I know. Sorry!  So much has happened since I last posted a blog. This week is winding down emotionally/physically/metaphysically/spiritually... Everything just seems to be getting into a groove for me right now, which is great.  I haven't had peace in my life for a looooong time and it is about time I am catching a breath. Thank you, God!

In our homeschool this week…

WE ARE DONE!!!!  Woohoo!  We are very much looking forward to a week or so off and than a non-strenuous summer schedule (only 2-3 school days during the week, outside in the beautiful weather!)

I am inspired by…

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

This week we don't have a lot on our plate.  Mostly we want to wind down from this past month or so.  I think we will be playing at playgrounds, going for walks, and enjoying the beauty of this world God gave us.  There is plenty of learning to be had that way!

I think we might be having a little bbq for Memorial Day, maybe we will go to Hershey Park today.  We'll do what we feel like.  It is time for a little spontaneity in our lives. ;)

My favorite thing this week was…

Finishing the school year.  It feels good to have completed our first year of homeschooling. We all learned a lot, and I am very much looking forward to next year.

What’s working/not working for us…

Math-U-See has been a great math curriculum.  He flew through the Primer, and then we took a break and did other things, and then last week we started the Alpha book.  This book is about mastery, so even though he knows a lot of what is in the book, I am making sure he completely understands the lessons.  We are in lesson 3, and he is doing a great job teaching me the lessons.  I figure we will be through the first third of the book by the time "school" starts up in the fall.  He loves his math, and this is a great book to allow him to go at his own pace.

Things I’m working on…

I have renamed our homeschool name for next year.  I have also come up with a mission statement, motto, a school prayer, and a school Bible verse.  I would love to tell you, but that has to wait for an unraveling blog post.  I may be switching blog names, so watch out for it!

I’m reading…

Meh.  I'm not.  I just can't find a book I want to read. I think I should go back to my favorites and reread a few (Lord of the Rings, Jane Eyre, Narnia series, Harry Potter)

I’m cooking…

I want to cook some peach cobbler.  I hope the peaches get in season soon, because I am having a huge hankering for some peach love.

I’m grateful for…

A loving husband that puts up with my craziness.

I’m praying for…

Guidance with our upcoming school year.  I want to build the Christian character of my children before I build their book education, but it seems too easy to put the Bible aside and always teach them what the state mandates.  Dear God, please help me teach Sebastian and Kaelyn good morals that will guide them throughout their lives. Inspire us, motivate us, guide us, love us, and we will shine in Your Glory. Amen.
