For the first day of our 2016-2017 school year, the family traveled to Fort Ligonier outside of Pittsburgh, PA to visit the fort and meet up with some family members for a day of fun (and maybe a little learning).
Fort Ligonier is a British fortification from the French Indian War. It stood for eight years and was never taken by an enemy. There is a museum located there as well as a reconstruction of the fort. It is an important fort in the career of George Washington and his rifles are on display in the museum.

Miles got tired and needed Daddy's help. |

They were lovingly holding each others hands as they walked through the fort. |

Cousins! |
The kids loved running around the fort and checking out the rooms that were set up. I am not sure how much they learned at this field trip, but they certainly enjoyed spending the day with their cousins.
