Tardis Scarf

My sister asked for a Tardis scarf for Christmas. I attempted, based on a pattern that was pathetic.  I ended up having to basically make up the pattern as I went because the directions were terrible.  I would have done this completely different if I could do it again.

It is not exactly what I had envisioned, and it was a pain in the butt to do the decorations. I may try this again later, after I have had time to forget the pain it was!

Week of Crochet

Hello! This past week I whipped up some super fast projects I want to share with you all.

First, there is a weird inside joke between me and a few families.  We have a mascot- FrogDog.  I wanted to honor them with a rendition they could physically cuddle. He is a magical FrogDog that was once a human and he can talk. The only thing this plushie is missing is a tear-soaked foot. Maybe you are lost with my description, but that might be a good thing.  We are a little... weird.

After I made FrogDog, the kids asked me to make them something as well.  For Kaelyn I made a little pink and white triangle scarf-hat thing.  Sebastian asked for a scarf. "I hear scarfs are good for keeping your neck warm." That kid cracks me up!  What was fun with these two projects is that I learned a few new stitches. In Kaelyn's kerchief I made granny squares and in Sebastian's scarf I used the cluster stitch.

R2D2 hat

Matthew received the Lego Star Wars Complete Saga game for Christmas this year, and Sebastian loves playing it.  (I wonder if it was really meant for Sebastian...).  Sebastian's favorite character is R2D2 and somehow we came across a knitted R2D2 hat.  I am terrible at knitting, but I have just started to learn how to crochet, so I searched for a crocheted version, and I found a pattern for free at Homespun Dreams. I made a few modifications since it was originally designed for a 10 year old boy and Sebastian is 4 1/2.

He is playing Lego Star Wars AND wearing his R2D2 hat!  My poor little man has a cold, so he isn't looking the best. :(

It was an easy pattern to follow, but I had problems sewing the parts on the hat.  That's a personal issue, not a problem of the pattern. Sebastian is now requesting an R2D2 amigurumi.  Time to get googling...

Swiffer Cover

I crocheted a Swiffer cover one night and tried it out.  It works better than the disposable ones you can buy for a fraction of the price!  It is reversible and machine washable.  I have been using it for a little over a week and I am so happy with it.  I am never going back to the disposable ones again!  I have seen a few other patterns I may try out as well.  I love making housework fun.

Bag of Holding

Last night, my husband was reading Geek Dad and he came across a craft just up my alley.  A crocheted bag of holding (a dice bag for D&D).  Yes!  I decided to stay up late last night to create it in time to use it at our gaming night tonight!  I play a gnome bard, so I though the addition of jingle bells to the ties would be fun, but they help keep the bag closed as well.  This may even be the first project I made for myself. Super easy and super fun.

Crocheted Digimon Amigurumi

Sebastian has become obsessed with Digimon lately.  Matthew loves Digimon and introduced Sebastian to the show, and Sebastian took to it immediately.  For Christmas he kept saying how much he wanted Digimon toys, but being a show from Japan from the late 90's, I didn't think we would be able to find any of the toys. (Side note: we found a Digimon bag, but no toys)

Anyway, I looked on the internet and found some patterns for some of the Digimon.  Unfortunately, they were crocheted dolls.  I had no idea how to do it.  My mother-in-law showed me what the abbreviations meant and how to do the stitched.  With that information I went to town!

It took me about five weeks total to finish all four of these Digimon. (It took four weeks for me to finish Agumon- the big orange one- and a week to do the rest)  I have to thank GundamGirlWing for figuring out the patterns for me.  What a Christmas saver! I still have a lot to learn with crocheting, but I am happy with how these guys turned out. Sebastian is great and is sharing them with his sister, tho I have been told I should make her something now.
