Tree of Stitches (and a few other finishes)

I finally have my Tree of Stitches embroidery finished and framed!  I love how it turned out. Over fiver years in the making...

Butterfly Cross Stitch

Another cross stitch done!  This time I made a butterfly for Kaelyn. She wanted to help me and she would put the threads on a spoon and hand them to me. This took me about a week, even though I should have been able to get this done sooner. Having kids makes it a bit harder to find time for hobbies.

Little Bear Cross-Stitch

Sebastian asked me to cross-stitch him a bear for his room. I found this at JoAnn's for dirt cheap, so I picked it up and then forgot about it for a month or so. I took it out this weekend and it took me only a couple hours to complete for him.

The worst part about this little chart was trying to decipher between all the different colors of brown. I am so glad it was a small chart or my eyes would have gone cross-eyed!

My Pixel Family, a Minecraft Wolf, and a future project

 This past weekend my husband and I went to Pax East, a gaming convention in Boston.  It was fantastic, and it really helped rejuvenate my creative side. I felt quite the spark of creativity, so I made a couple quick cross stitch charts.

This is my take on pixel people art. This is my family. I tried making our dog, but it wasn't working out right, so he was cut from my final version of the family.

To make up for the lack of a dog in my family picture, I made this Minecraft dog/wolf chart. It is very easy to make charts to Minecraft or other 8/16/32 bit textures.

I have also designed a project for Mindcrack (a group of YouTubers that play on the same server). I had tweeted a picture of that out yesterday and I have gotten some good responses from other fans and the Mindcrackers themselves. I have everything I need to work on that project, but it will probably be a little before I start that. I have a bunch of projects that need to get finished first. It is nice to want to do things again. I was feeling burnt out before getting away and now I am feeling refreshed.

The next thing on my plate is to get better. Unfortunately, I came down with the "Pax Pox" so I am trying to recover and get better so that I can restart homeschool and continue reviewing products for the blog.  A review is set to go live later this week, so keep an eye on the blog!

Zoo ATC

 

June's theme was Zoo.  Since we had just gone to a zoo with Sebastian, I thought I would let him help me decide what to stitch.  The animal he was most excited to see was the giraffe.  It is a graceful animal and Sebastian was in awe of the size of the giraffe.  So this ATC is in honor of my amazing son.

Backstitched Wedding Record

This wedding record took me forever to finish.  I started it before I got pregnant and between morning sickness, getting ready for baby, newborn, sicknesses and life in general, it took me about 20 months to finish.

I was able to finish it while on vacation, and I matted and framed it when we got home.  It was a lot of backstitching which made it slow going.  It turned out very nice!

Wedding Records

Here are some wedding records I have cross stitched.

For my brother and sister-in-law's wedding I made them this box as an IOU.

This is the reason they got an IOU.  This baby took me about a year to stitch.

I love how it turned out when I got it matted and framed. I am very proud of this work.

This was a piece I made for a friend's wedding

I had to have a Disney-themed one for me and my husband.  We went to Disney World for our honeymoon.  I actually have this hanging in the kitchen right now. 

My First Cross Stitch ATC's

I started cross-stitching ATC's at the end of 2010 and although I haven't had time to do any for the past few months, I love the quick work ATC's are.

ATC's are Artist Trading Cards.  They are 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches and you mail them to other people who in turn make an ATC for you.  I have a book that I keep all my designs in.

This angel was one of the first ones I made.

This was originally a windmill, but the recipient liked lighthouses so I left out the wind mill fan.
